It's not a phase. It's the shape.

Up to 2 in 3 babies under 6 months struggle with post-feed discomfort — reflux, gas, trapped wind. For many of them, it all gets worse in the same place: lying flat.

Reflux discomfort

Lying flat lets feeds creep back up, burning her throat.

She only feels safe on your chest

Never the mattress. Never the crib. Just your chest.

Trapped gas

Flat on her back, wind has nowhere to go and builds painful pressure.

Short sleep stretches

Discomfort builds, and 30 minutes later you're both up again.

Different symptoms. Same pattern: your baby feels better in the calm, supported position she already chooses in your arms.

The shape my arms were making at 2:47am.

I'm Maddie. I built the FourthArm™ because I couldn't find it.

My daughter had silent reflux. The pediatrician said "hold her upright for 20 to 30 minutes after every feed." Nobody explained that meant four hours a day. Nobody explained that meant 3am too.

One night, at 2:47am, sitting up in bed with her finally asleep on my chest, I noticed the exact shape my body was making. Elbow raised to lift her torso. Forearm curled under her knees. My side pressed against her ribs. That shape was the only thing that worked.

I looked for a product that made that shape. The loungers were flat. The wedges were unsafe. The "cradles" that had promised more had been recalled — I'd read every one of those stories.

The FourthArm™ is what I couldn't find.

If it doesn't work for you, I want your money back. That's not a marketing line. That's a promise from me, on the record, with my name on it.

THE 3-POINT CHEST-POSITION SYSTEM

This is the shape your arms have been making since 3am. The FourthArm™ recreates it, hands-free, for the supervised, awake minutes after a feed.

15° Torso Lift

The angle your forearm makes when you cradle her upright. Firm high-density foam holds the incline. It doesn't sink, and it doesn't flatten.

Pelvic-Tilt Leg Cushion

The lift your other hand gives under her knees when she's building trapped wind. Adjustable and removable as she grows. Turn it around for tummy time.

Cocooned Side-Support

The pressure of your body against her ribs. Contained, not exposed. Curved, supportive walls hold her in the position she already chooses in your arms.

— Dr. Paul Jacobs, IBCLC

"As an IBCLC, I see two or three reflux and silent-reflux babies every week in my practice. Post-feed positioning is part of feeding — it's not optional, it's not marketing, it's clinical. The position babies naturally settle in against a parent's chest has three specific components: torso up, pelvis tilted, sides supported. Take away any one of them, and the baby fusses. The FourthArm™ is the first product I've come across that gets all three right without asking a mother to hold the shape herself. It's not a medical device — it doesn't treat reflux, and I want to be really clear about that — but as a comfort positioner for the supervised, awake minutes after a feed, it does what parents' arms have been doing for centuries. I'd rather see a tired mother use a purpose-designed positioner supervised than watch her prop with pillows at 3am because she can't stay awake anymore. That's why I'm comfortable recommending it — used awake, supervised, and only as one part of a broader feeding and sleep-hygiene plan with her pediatrician."

Dr. Emily Heart, Ex Pediatric Nurse

Dr. Emily Heart, Ex Pediatric Nurse

"I've spent twelve years on a pediatric ward. Every single week, I meet another exhausted mother who's been told to 'hold her baby upright after every feed' — and every single week, I watch her realize nobody told her that meant four hours a day. The FourthArm™ is the first product I've seen that actually recreates the shape those mothers make with their arms. The 15° torso lift, the pelvic-tilt from the leg cushion, the contained side-support — that's not a marketing invention. That's the position we teach parents to hold their baby in after a feed. Getting it right, hands-free, for the supervised awake window after a feed, is a genuine relief tool for tired parents. I recommend it as a comfort positioner, for supervised awake use only — not for sleep, and not as a substitute for pediatric care."

— Rachel M., Certified Postpartum Doula & mother of two

— Rachel M., Certified Postpartum Doula & mother of two

"I'm a postpartum doula, and I'm a mother of two. Both of my babies had reflux — my second one badly enough that I spent the first eleven weeks of her life on the couch, not sleeping, because she screamed the second I put her down. I wish someone had handed me the FourthArm™ then. It recreates the exact shape I was making with my arms at 3am — the shape I couldn't hold for one more hour but couldn't stop holding, because it was the only thing that worked. When I use it with my clients now, in the awake window after a feed, mothers can eat a meal with two hands for the first time in weeks. That's the thing that actually matters. It's not a sleep product and I never recommend it as one. What it is, is a way for a mother to get her hands back for 20 minutes at a time, supervised, while her baby stays in the position she'd otherwise have to hold her in. For post-feed comfort, in the awake window, it's the best-designed tool in the category."

Frequently Asked Questions

What age range is the FourthArm™ suitable for? +

Newborn to approx. 12 months, for supervised awake use. Stop using it once your baby begins to roll independently, wriggle strongly, or outgrows the fit.

Can I use it in a bassinet, next-to-me crib, or pram? +

Yes — for supervised, awake use only. It's designed to fit inside most bassinets, bedside cribs, and prams. Always make sure it lies flat without folding or bunching, and never leave your baby unattended in it — including in a crib overnight.

Can it help with flat head or head preference? +

The FourthArm™ features rounded head padding designed to distribute pressure evenly. Many parents report their baby shifts head position more easily when supported in a curved shape rather than lying completely flat. It is not a treatment for positional plagiocephaly — speak to your pediatrician if you're concerned about head shape.

How does it help with acid reflux? +

Honest answer: the FourthArm™ is a comfort positioner, not a treatment for reflux. It recreates the shape parents naturally hold babies in after feeds — upright, curved, contained — which many parents report helps their baby settle more comfortably during the awake post-feed window. It is not a medical device and does not treat, cure, or prevent reflux. If your baby has diagnosed reflux, please speak to your pediatrician.

How does it help with trapped gas? +

The removable leg cushion lifts the baby's legs into the same pelvic-tilt shape parents create when doing bicycle legs. Many parents report their baby appears more comfortable and passes wind more easily in this supported position. It's a comfort tool, not a medical intervention.

Will this work for silent reflux? +

The FourthArm™ is not a treatment for silent reflux — please speak to your pediatrician about that. What it does is recreate the supported, upright, contained position that many parents of silent reflux babies report helps their baby settle more calmly in the awake minutes after a feed.

Will this work for colic? +

The FourthArm™ isn't a treatment for colic either. But many parents of colicky babies tell us that the position — held upright, curved, contained — is the same one they instinctively recreate with their arms when nothing else settles her. That's what the FourthArm™ is doing: recreating that shape, hands-free.

Is this safer than propping with pillows? +

Yes — significantly. DIY propping with pillows, towels, or rolled-up blankets creates suffocation and positional risks. It's one of the leading causes of infant injury in the home. The FourthArm™ is a purpose-designed positioner with firm, non-shifting foam and OEKO-TEX® certified fabric — used supervised and awake, per the guidance in "Is it safe?" above.

What if my baby is a stomach sleeper? +

The FourthArm™ is not a sleep product and not for stomach sleeping. If your baby is having trouble on their back for sleep, please speak to your pediatrician about safe sleep options. The safest sleep position for infants is on their back, on a firm flat surface, in their own sleep space — that's Red Nose (AU), AAP (US), and Lullaby Trust (UK) guidance.

How is this different from a $30 Amazon lounger? +

Fair question — and the honest one is this:

The physical shape looks similar. The difference is in what happens when a baby actually lies in it.

Amazon dupes use soft foam that sinks and flattens under a baby's weight — the 15° incline is gone in three days. The leg cushions are floppy or missing entirely. The fabric is usually not textile-safety certified. There's no named brand behind them, no return address you can trust, and no guarantee that actually gets honored.

The FourthArm™ uses firm high-density foam that holds the incline, a well-filled leg cushion that holds the pelvic tilt, OEKO-TEX® certified fabric, a named founder, an Australian returns address, and a 100-night guarantee. That's what you're paying for.

If none of that matters to you, an Amazon lounger will be fine.
